The Ophthalmic Operating Theatre Nurses Training Program is designed to equip nurses
with specialized knowledge and practical skills to provide safe, efficient, and effective
nursing care in ophthalmic surgical settings. The program focuses on preoperative,
intraoperative, and postoperative care, emphasizing the unique needs of ophthalmic
surgery patients. By combining theoretical learning with hands-on practice, the program
prepares nurses to support ophthalmic surgeons and provide high-quality care in a fastpaced, precision-driven environment.

We aim to train nurse anesthetists, who can safely administer general anesthesia to children
undergoing ophthalmic surgery. Such nurses would ideally work as part of a team, under the
supervision of a pediatric anesthesiologist. The objective of this training program is to equip
ophthalmologists with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely manage pediatric
anesthesia for ophthalmic procedures. This includes preoperative assessment, intraoperative
anesthesia management, and postoperative care. The program uses a combination of
theoretical learning, hands-on practice, and clinical experience to ensure comprehensive
training in pediatric ophthalmic anesthesia.

Ophthalmic Operating Theatre Nurses Methods: 

• Didactic lectures, case discussions, and hands-on practical training

Evaluation: 

• Competency assessments based on clinical skills, knowledge, and patient outcomes.
