Awards for 2024

1. Eye Care Champions 2024 – prize of the Cameroonian Ophthalmology Society

Dr. Henry Nkumbe, CEO of the Magrabi ICO Cameroon Eye Institute, has been honoured on the 29th February 2024, in Douala, with the prestigious Eye Care Champion Award for 2024 by the esteemed Conglomerate of Experts from the Cameroon Ophthalmological Society.  

2. Award For Best Eye Care Hospital of The Year 2023.

MICEI has been honoured with the award for Best Eye Care Hospital of the Year 2023! A delegation led by our Administrative Director, Mr. Ernest Mendah Kelese, represented the Director General in receiving this prestigious recognition from the Cameroon English Language Newspaper Publishers Association on July 26, 2024.  

Awards for 2023

1. MICEI was awarded a “Grand Prix Health D’AFRIQUE” in August 2023 by “Les Awards des Avenir” and in the month of November 2023.

The African Health Leadership Award also recognized the excellent services provided by MICEI, ranked at the 3rd position Nationwide. Finally, in December 2023, Dr. Henry Nkumbe was nominated among the 20 health care leaders in Cameroon in 2023.  

Awards for 2021–2022

1. Best Private Hospital in 2021 at the awards ceremony for excellence in health leadership in Cameroon organised by the Echo Santé Group and chaired by the Cameroon Minister of Public Health, November 18, 2021.

This celebrates MICEI’s exceptional leadership in delivering top-tier eye care services and its dedication to improving health outcomes. The award ceremony, attended by key stakeholders in the health sector, spotlighted MICEI’s pivotal role as a private institution driving innovation and excellence in Cameroon’s healthcare landscape.  

2. Award for the Best Hospital in Cameroon for 2021, received at the “Prix de l’Avenir” organised by the Cameroon media houses (the Cameroonian Communication Agency and the Cameroonian Media Owners’ Network), December 3, 2021.

This recognition highlights MICEI’s outstanding performance in patient care, infrastructure, and community impact. The award reflects the trust and admiration of the public and media, cementing MICEI’s reputation as a beacon of hope and healing in the country.  

3. Special Award for Professional Competence and Social Commitment to Health by the prestigious Association of Bayam Selam (ASBY) at the first ASBY AWARDS on December 18, 2021.

This distinction acknowledges MICEI’s dual focus on delivering expert medical services and addressing the social needs of vulnerable populations through free consultations and surgeries. It celebrates the hospital’s holistic approach, blending professionalism with a deep sense of social responsibility.  

4. Best Service to Humanity 2021 Award at the 19^th edition of the “2021 ACHIEVEMENTS AWARDS” organised by The Guardian Post, a media group, for providing quality eye care to patients at affordable prices.

The recognition underscores MICEI’s unwavering commitment to serving all segments of society, particularly those in rural and underserved areas. The award reflects the hospital’s success in making a tangible difference in the lives of thousands through accessible and compassionate care.  

5. Award for the Best Hospital in Cameroon 2021 by the Guardian Post, on December 3, 2021,

Dr. Henry Nkumbe, the Chief Executive Officer of Magrabi ICO Cameroon Eye Institute, once again had the honour of receiving, on behalf of the staff of the Magrabi ICO Cameroon Eye Institute (MICEI), the award for the Best Hospital in Cameroon for the year 2022. This consecutive win, following the 2021 accolade, demonstrates MICEI’s sustained excellence and leadership in the healthcare sector. The award recognizes the hospital’s consistent delivery of high-quality services, innovative training programs, and impactful community outreach, solidifying its status as a national benchmark for healthcare institutions.
