The goal is to make the ophthalmologist capable of performing a high-quality
MSICS + PCIOL implantation; preoperative and postoperative patient
assessment. To enhance the training, we use the following activities

A continuation of Dry & Wet lab, non-separable. The
trainees watch & observe surgery and write down the steps in a notebook;
They master the use of the operating microscope and instruments, and sand
curb with the scrub assistant to appreciate the steps involved and how it is
done. The candidates watch live surgery through the attached binoculars
while the senior ophthalmologist is performing the surgery and starts small
interventions like making peritomy, scleral cauterization, initial scleral
incisions, tunneling, making side-port, etc. depending on the situation, the
mentor comment and open discussion after the operation, also giving
straight feedbacks. The trainees have parallel chances to observe or do
retrobulbar or peribulbar anesthesia injections, preoperative evaluation of the
patients, sterilization, and packings, recording surgical data, and how to keep
the environment clean
